Why You Should Exercise Dominion

Written by Uyoyou Christiana Charles-Iyoha

The sum total of what I do with TIME
Sleep, eat, laze about or work
Or jest, gossip, curse
Or study the WORD, meditate the Word
Worship God in quality praise
Ascribe honor to Him Who gives me dominion
Or feed my eyes and mind on worthless things
Dominion, how I invest or fritter time

Dominion is the birthright of every child of God. God created you to have dominion. It was not an afterthought. Please see Genesis Chapter 1 verse 28. To exercise dominion is be masters, to rule and exercise control. Beloved, God created you to rule, to exercise control over His creation. Please read up Psalm 8 verse 6, Genesis Chapter 1 verse 28, 1st Kings Chapter 4 verse 24, Psalm 110 verse 2, Proverbs Chapter 4 verses 23 to 24, 1st Peter Chapter 1 verse 13, Luke Chapter 10 verse 19 for details and Holy Spirit inspired insight.

You need faith in God to exercise dominion. Therefore, anchor your faith in God and not people, resources or circumstances. The word of God is a major component of the Christian faith which explains why you should exercise your faith on the basis of the word of God. Please read 1st John Chapter 5 verses 1 to 12. Christians are to walk by faith and not by sight as instructed in Hebrews Chapter 10 verse 38, 11 verses 1 to 40, Habakkuk Chapter 2 verse 4, and Romans Chapter 10 verse 17. The word of God is what builds your faith.

Faith is the absence of doubt (Mark Chapter 11 verses 22 to 24). Faith is also the absence of unbelief (Romans Chapter 4 verse 20). The faith to exercise to receive from God does not necessarily have to be big. In the words of Jesus Christ, faith as tiny as a mustard seed can move mountains (Luke Chapter 17 verses 5 to 6, Matthew Chapter 17 verses 19 to 20). The cripple at Lystra had faith to be healed and was healed. The Apostle Paul whom God used to administer healing to him observed that the man had faith, an outcome of the fact that he heard Paul speak the word of God and listened attentively (Acts Chapter 14 verses 7 to 10, Romans Chapter 10 verse 7).

Beloved, you can exercise dominion by daring to be different, to stand out from the crowd. Joseph was a young man without parental and pastoral guidance in Egypt. Yet, God granted Him the grace to exercise dominion against the wiles of the enemy through the wife of Potiphar. Joseph bridled his passions and refused to sin against God and his master Potiphar. Though Joseph served an unjust prison sentence because Potiphar’s wife lied against him, the time in prison turned out to be stepping stones to greatness. As you exercise dominion over sin and the wiles of the enemy, God will move you higher in life in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
