Wake Up the Giant 2

Written by Uyoyou Christiana Charles-Iyoha

Gideon was a sleeping giant; a man divinely endowed with all it took to end the oppression of Israel by Midian. Ironically, Gideon was hiding in a wine press to thresh wheat because he was afraid of the Midianites, the same people he was divinely chosen and endowed with strength to defeat to end their intimidation and harassment as well as oppression of Israel. Fortunately, God woke Gideon up from his slumber with words designed to awaken Gideon to who he was. And thereafter, Israel was free of Midianite harassment and oppression for several years. Please see Judges Chapters 6 to 7.

Naomi was a sleeping giant. She slept for a long while after the deaths of her husband and her two sons. But she woke up to the reality of her roots and decided to return to her home land. Fortunately, the famine which took her to Moab where she lost her husband and son was over. So she returned to Israel, however in the company of her beloved daughter in-law Ruth who loved her. Though they arrived in Israel without financial resources, the culture of gleaning favored them as Ruth went out to glean. But for how long were they going to live off gleaning? Naomi suddenly woke up the huge potentials before them through remarriage of the younger widow to a close relative. So Naomi instructed Ruth on what to do to become the wife of Boaz. Thereafter, they became the co-owners of Boaz’ farm, where Ruth had gone gleaning in the past so they could have food on their table. Ruth no longer had to glean to feed them both. Rather, people worked on their farms and they were served.

Beloved, you may be a sleeping giant but you can wake up right now. I was but certain events in my life woke me up from the sleep of death. I was in a very beautiful house, loaded with beautiful and expensive items, large expansive grounds but unfortunately surrounded by a very huge dense and unnatural foliage which screened us and whatever we owned, irrespective of how beautiful from the rest of the world. No one could see us, we could not see anyone, not even the sky above us. Also, there was no way out of that place, no roads, no gates. I wondered what that dream was about until I heard God speak to me about open heavens after I waited on God in fasting and prayers for a considerable length of time. I then realized that the enemy had placed a satanic ceiling represented by the unnatural heavy foliage over me so that the people who should see the glory of God in me and reward me accordingly would never see despite the grace of God in my life. So I was screened off from the right people and surrounded with the wrong people; people who used other people for free and when they deigned to pay for quality services, did so in a way that kept you in servitude so that you would always be at their beck and call providing services that they had absolutely no capacity to provide but which they refused to reward adequately.

Does the Bible not say that a person who does excellent work stands before kings? Why then was I standing before the wrong people? Waiting upon God woke me to the open heavens God had for me and I was able to break away from that oppression. You can also break away from whatever holds you down by waiting on God through His word, I mean study the Bible, in prayers and fasting if you are led to. The sleeping giant in you will rise from the slumber of death. You can also make out time to read the book, Awaken the Giant in You by Anthony Robbins. Beloved, the possibilities in YOU are endless and are patiently waiting for you to wake up.

Do not be dismayed, do not be discouraged. Be bold; be strong so that you can walk in faith and victory. SO WAKE UP! Break the ceiling and let the world see their long awaited giant. How soon are you ready to do so? Will you sleep forever and the world goes by without seeing your majestic values given to you by God to make a difference in the world? RISE UP AND FLY, NOT EVEN WALK. Shalom.
