Break with the Past

Written by Uyoyou Christiana Charles-Iyoha

Break with the past. Do not allow the past to hold you back. Do not expend your energy trying to fix what does not work. The past cannot be changed. Stop holding on to the past; do not allow your past bleed into your present to change your future. Do not allow the past to misdirect your life. The potential, the success inside you is greater than the previous and present successes you have experienced – Isaiah Chapter 43 verses 18 to 19.Therefore, do not let either past successes or adversity stop you from being the best you can be. Don’t let life make you change your name. Simply learn the lessons required from the past.

Be optimistic. Trust God when it looks like things are going backwards. Get to the point where you can trust God to let things go. It takes great peace to accept the times you are in. You may be aborting your own prophecies because you are trying to save what God has already cut off. Some blessings are seasonal blessings and once such seasons are over, you let go. God brings people into your life to do certain things. When their assignment is over, let them go and move on. The plan is a process leading to the purpose. Therefore, celebrate the new relationships in your life as well as what God is doing in your life now.

Your future is determined by the decisions taken now. Faith helps you make the choices for the future. When you make choices by faith, faith creates the future by canceling out the past. Your faith will bring the things that have not come to you now. Please see John Chapter 2 verse 5. Faith must therefore be active in your life. Jabez became a biblical reference on prosperity in spite of the name he was called because he turned to God to reverse the consequences of that name so that rather than pain and sorrow accompanying him, God's goodness and prosperity would always accompany him. It is instructive that God honored his prayer and not only made him prosperous but Jabez also became a reference for all such people to emulate.

As God in His infinite mercy and grace crosses you over into a new year of great grace  and greater glory, it is my prayer that you will consciously and in a very determined manner move on to progressive thinking and actions. Do not think or act backwards. Rather concentrate on now by making godly life transforming choices. Focus on the goal you have set out to attain, pay attention to the goal and ask God how and when to build and cross bridges as the need arises for you to attain the goal. Also ask God for directions on how to and where to create paths in the desert as well as streams in the wastelands. Please, see Isaiah Chapters 43 verses 16 to 21, 41 verses 17 to 20. Go in and take possession of the land that the Lord swore He would give to you. Forget the former things and advance into the new things God is doing in your life.
See you at Success Street, Shalom.
