You Can Succeed

Written by Uyoyou Christiana Charles-Iyoha

You can succeed if only you will dare because it is the will of God for you to succeed. Please see Joshua Chapter 1 verse 8. Also, you can succeed if you take the decision to succeed and dare the challenges and odds which the enemy throws in your paths to success. Success does not come on a platter of gold. It comes masked as challenges that you must purposefully in a very determined and tactical manner, strategically unmask.

People sometimes wear masks to cover up something which may be beautiful, ugly, unpleasant, too brilliant to showcase at a certain time or place; or amongst certain people who may want to devour it. Brides in certain cultures are usually beautifully dressed up but veiled, a mild form of masks. It is the responsibility of the groom to unveil the bride; to behold and enjoy beauties untold. Significantly and quite often, the journey to unveiling the beautiful but masked bride is not a bed of roses. Perhaps you should ask people from the ethnic groups where potential grooms are subjected to the indignity and pain of a good number of strokes of the cane, significantly not in secret but in public glare.

Beloved, it is usually the determination and courageous resolve of the groom to unveil the bride that keeps the real groom from bolting when the pain of the harshly delivered strokes of the cane become unbearable. He bears the pain in silence, masking his pain in order not to be mocked and considered an unsuitable groom for the bride. What an ordeal!

Fortunately, you do not have to be flogged publicly or privately to succeed as Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior has paid the full price for success in any endeavor of life for humanity. All you need to do is to latch on to Jesus and walk with him to and on Success Street.

Therefore, you can succeed against all odds if you are determined to succeed. Subasic, the goal keeper for Croatia suffered terrible cramps just before the crucial qualifying match for the 2018 World Cup semi finals between Croatia and Russia stretched into extra time. Croatia had used up the allowed number of substitutes and therefore could not make any change. If Subasic left the field of play and a substitute goal keeper came in; the Croatian team would have to sacrifice one of their players against the very determined to succeed Russian team. Subasic opted for medicals; resumed play even into extra time and during the penalty shoots. Croatia won and moved on to the semi finals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia despite playing against a very determined to succeed Russian team that was enjoying overwhelming home support – quite a number of Russians were in the stadium.

How about Modric, the very level headed young man referred to as the master craftsman of Croatia! I never saw such a cerebral footballer in my entire life; always thinking, always strategizing, yet very calm and collected; never ruffled by circumstances, does not get over excited. Because he is always thinking of the next smart move to make, he strategizes and is almost always on point; making tactical strategic moves designed to bring victory and success.

A very significant feature of the Croatian team as well as the Belgian team is their togetherness particularly their great team work; their very unique ability to depend on the strengths of one another without anyone trying to outshine the other. It is a case of bring your strengths to me and here are mine – we need each other to succeed. This I believe explains the effective and efficient coordination as well as deployment of strengths to divine advantage. The fact that every member of the team was building each other up; celebrating each other and encouraging each other even when mistakes were made; show that it is possible to succeed against all odds when a team is together. With such unique organization is extremely difficult to spot the weaknesses of the team and find a leeway to disorganize and defeat them. It is also significant to note that there were no blame games – trading blames when you should be working at enhancing your strengths and minimizing your weaknesses. This I believe is a great study in how diverse strengths are harnessed for the common good of all.

Surprisingly, Modric enjoys his game as he smiles through every pressure; does not run in wide circles on the field and ensures to a very large extent that his passes are accurate and right on target. You can do more and succeed if only you will dare.
