Have a fervent relationship with God
Fear God and eschew evil; any sort of evil no matter how
beautifully it is coated. If Joseph had capitulated to Potiphar’s wife, he
would have remained a slave in that house until he was eventually caught in the
unholy liaison with her. But thank God that Joseph’s fear of God made him run
away from evil. He chose to honor God Whom He feared.
Joseph was generous – he shared the love of God with his
fellow prisoners by investing of his divine gifts and abilities in them. He
interpreted their dreams for free. Please read Ecclesiastes Chapter 11 verses 1
to 6.
He always showcased his divine gifts – even in prison, he
let the baker and butler know that he was blessed with the divine gift of
interpreting dreams. He did not behave like the wicked lazy servant in the
parable of talents who chose to dig his talent in the ground and ended up with
no reward. But the other two servants who invested their talents were
handsomely rewarded by their master. Please read Matthew Chapter 25 verses 14
to 30. In the end, Joseph was also handsomely rewarded when he interpreted the
dreams of Pharaoh and also proffered solutions to the problems posed by the
dreams.
Beloved, appreciate and put premium value on your divine
gifts for you never can tell how far they will take you in life. Solomon
appreciated and valued the great gift of divine wisdom God blessed him with. He
was globally sought after all the days of his life as people came from far and
near laden with gold, silver, precious stones and great gifts just to hear of
Solomon’s wisdom – 1st Kings Chapter 4 verses 29 to 34, 10 verses 23
to 27. Do not despise your gift like the young man described as devoid of
understanding in Proverbs Chapter 24 verses 30 to 34 who allowed his garden to
go to seed.
Be knowledgeable – be well informed, thoroughly
knowledgeable – you know the details and can connect the dots easily. Ignorance
can be a major limitation as it impedes progress – if you have no idea of how
to get to point B, you may remain stuck at point A until you get the relevant
knowledge to move to point B.
Always expand your knowledgebase as knowledge sometimes gets
outdated and when knowledge is outdated, it is no longer relevant and usable.
Stop investing time in low profile tasks as they do not
really take you up the mark. Hey only help to relieve tension. But when you
invest quality time in high profile tasks, they move you up the ladder
speedily.
Run away from anything that is not of God no matter how
tempting and colorfully presented. Daniel and his three friends chose not to
eat the King’s meat and the Bible records that God honored their decision by
making them ten times better – more knowledgeable, more skillful, wiser and
endowed with greater understanding their colleagues. Any surprise that Daniel
alongside his friends rose rapidly in the corridors of power. Aside from
serving four different kings, Nebuchadnezzar and BelShazzar of Babylon, Darius
the Mede and Cyrus the Persian, Daniel also became the number two man in power
during the reign of Darius the Mede. Daniel was globally visible, relevant and
prominent and as both Babylon and the Persian empires were global powers then.
Do something honorable - do not partner with the wicked.
Bigthan and Teresh plotted to kill the king. Unfortunately for them, and
fortunately for the king, Mordecai heard about their evil plot and immediately
reported the matter to his cousin, Queen Esther who then informed the king.
When the matter was investigated and found to be true, Bigthan and Teresh were
executed while Mordecai’s good deeds were recorded in the royal annals. This
singular act gave Mordecai greater visibility – from being a regular gateman at
the palace gate to someone listed in the royal annals for good deeds as well as
known to the King for saving the life of the king. At the appointed time,
Mordecai became second in command to the king – nationally and globally visible
just like his orphaned cousin, Esther who was wife of the king and queen in the
land. Even in captivity, as foreigners in the land, they became leaders with
great visibility.
You can also rise from obscurity irrespective of where you
are located and what your socio-economic and political background is if you
would simply trust God to take you out of the dust and ash heap position of
life you are currently in to His designated global limelight, relevance,
significance, honor and wealth. MAY God help you to get there in the mighty
name of Jesus Christ. AMEN.
