Be in Firm Control

Written by Uyoyou Christiana Charles-Iyoha

Take charge, be in control, firm control. Jesus Christ was in firm control of every situation, circumstance, people who confronted him, attempted to assail him, stop the plans and purposes of God for His life, attempted physical, spiritual and mental harm against him. He was also in firm control of the elements of creation – wind, water, et al, including every being created by God. Jesus Christ took charge against the devil during the temptation in the wilderness by refusing every suggestion by the devil to make Him sin against God. How did Jesus achieve this feat? By responding to every trick, every lie of the devil designed to make Him lose focus with the word of God – the undiluted word of God that is light, which gives clear direction, that brings safety, healing, clear specific direction and progress to divine purpose, unlimited provision and sustainable abundance, deliverance, shelter, security, fruitfulness, increase, the achievement of divine purpose.

Beloved, God does not fail and cannot fail. That is why He equipped man at creation with His nature; authority to rule over the creation of God by creating humans godlike; and further blessing man to prosper and increase to replenish the earth as well as giving humans the authority to take charge over every creation of God. Unfortunately, humans lost the authority when Eve capitulated to the devil’s suggestions rather than the divine and safe instructions of God. If Eve had adhered to the instructions of God, she would have stayed safe, hugely protected by God. But she lost it when she chose to believe the devil instead of God.

Beloved, Jesus chose to believe God over the carefully constructed lies of the devil designed to derail divine purpose. You may argue that Jesus is God but please do not forget that Jesus operated as a human being while on earth and was subject to every weakness, passion and desire experienced by you and I. Yet, He stayed true to God and His word and ultimately defeated the devil and every one of his cohorts. Jesus suffered hunger yet He refused the evil suggestion of the devil to turn stones to bread just to prove that He was the Son of God. Jesus Christ as a human being was also subject to pride and the desire to own power and property but Jesus exercised dominion over all of these. He refused to submit Himself to the devil and whatever temporary possessions and supposedly power the devil had to offer. Ultimately, Jesus Christ dispossessed the devil with the word of God. Please read Matthew Chapter 28 verses 18 to 20, Colossians Chapter 2, Philippians Chapter 2 verses 1 to 11 and Psalm 24.

You can also do same, deploying the WORD. The weapon for exercising dominion is the word of God; spoken, prophesied, meditated, read and studied, internalized and understood, God breathed upon and acted on. The heart, mind and mouth are then/constitute tools for acting on the word of God. Please read Psalm 8 verse 2, Jeremiah Chapter 1 verses 1 to 19, please take note of verse 7, 9 to 11, 17; 20 verse 9 and lamentations Chapter 3 verse 37.
